The package includes a tour through the Amish countryside with a trip to a local cheese cave. We'll explore Lancaster wines and visit Twin Brook winery. Also on the itinerary is a "wine and dine" evening at Carr’s Restaurant in downtown Lancaster. All of this begins at Sheep Hill Bed & Breakfast, in the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch Country, where the clip-clop of Amish buggies is heard in tune with the chop chop of fresh herbs, both combining to offer the perfect culinary excursion.

The weekend highlight of fine food with Tim Carr of Carr’s Restaurant in downtown Lancaster will be a memorable experience. Tim has developed a menu to tie together the local fare.

Guests who take part in this special package will have "down time" to discover all that compliments this culinary weekend. Lancaster County offers an array of rich and colorful treasures including small unique towns, local markets, museums and Amish attractions.

June 21,2008 - A Beer and Pretzel Tour of Lancaster County

Did you know that Lancaster was once known as the Little Munich of America? Or that 75% of America's pretzels are made within 100 miles of Lancaster County?

Learn more on an adventure through Lancaster County's back roads as we explore two local pretzel factories and two micro-breweries. Hear Jack Loose of the Lancaster Historical Society discuss the early days of brewing with true tales of gangsters, bootlegging and how the locals successfully defied Prohibition.

Three inns have orchestrated an entertaining day. Jack Loos will set the mood with colorful reminiscences, and then we're off to sample some of Lancaster's famous soft pretzels at a local soft pretzel maker. Our journey takes us to the Lancaster Malt Brewing (www.lancasterbrewing.com) to tour their facility and experience their award-winning beer. We next travel to Intercourse where you will tour a hard pretzel factory, and stroll the quaint shops in the village. Stoudt's Brewery (www.stoudtsbeer.com) in Adamstown is our final stop, and host Ed Stoudt will acquaint us with his award-winning brews and provide a tour of his brewery. At Stoudt's we will finish the day with an outstanding dinner at his Black Angus restaurant, complete with, you guessed it, beer (or wine). There's no need for a designated driver because we will be transported by a professional service.
